Culture Lost & Found
Animation · Illustration · Website · Storyboarding · Research
This project was inspired by Stuart Hall’s concept of identity as a continuous process. Focusing on Assamese culture, it mapped the daily lives of three women, all aged 26, across three different decades. The aim was to reflect how rituals and routines evolve over time, shaping and reshaping cultural identity.
Approach
Using a grid as both timeline and storytelling structure, I visualised 24-hour routines across eras through frame-by-frame animation and illustration. The design language was deliberately restrained to allow subtle details to surface. The result was a narrative that revealed the quiet but profound transformations of everyday life.
Outcome
The project extended beyond its digital home. Posters and billboards across London and Central Saint Martins invited passers-by to reflect on their own cultural habits. This made the work accessible, participatory and rooted in the present – encouraging collective reflection on time, change and identity.
